to make a long story short my chicken lost one of her toes and it does not look infected but some one told me to get some needles and syringe and to give her penicillin but it was not infected would it hurt her if I gave it to her I don’t want her to get bumble foot should I give her penicillin now or wait to see if it gets infected she is seven months old and the breed is Rhode Island Red I will give a photo I was trying to clean the toe but did. not want to hurt her

Personally, I would clean it with vetericyn or clorhexiderm, several times a day, and watch.

Chickens are amazing at healing, and their body temp is higher (106 degrees) which automatically fights off a lot of bacteria already.

Chances are this will heal fairly quickly and remain localized.

If you see any signs of new swelling or redness developing, oozing puss, or bad smell, then I would give an antibiotic.

My thoughts.
