She's so cute! Does she ever get to eat out of the feed pan though? I noticed everytime she went to eat out of it, one of the others would chase her away. She's adorable though!

Yes, she does manage to make her way in..........later! She is very nervous and tends to dart about trying to stay out of everyone's way. I think its because she is so much smaller than everyone else. I always make sure she gets her share of treats.

I have a Serama chick that hatched in April (incubator) and even now late July he is half the size of the other Seramas (smaller than a type A for sure ) and I am just introducing him back to the large mixed flock (standard and bantam) of chickens. We babied him a lot to get him through his high growth months. He finally lost all his down and is beginning to actually look like a young roo. I researched his issue that I strongly believe he has..."Runting Stunting Syndrome". Caused by a virus, usually but not always found with males and they do tend to have shorter life spans than a typical chicken without this issue. Look it up, you may find similarities.

Doesn't look too small to me. Cochins should not be compared to D'uccles for size. She is perfectly normal

I have this naked neck that is smaller than silkies the same age, and they are standard! For a while there I thought maybe an Old English Game Bantam successfully mated the breeder's hens. He runs them with the NN, but who would worry about a 1 pound rooster getting a 6 pound hen?

What you've been saying about her undeveloped comb and wattles, and lagging behind size leads me to believe maybe a runt? Maybe a vet would know.

Or, maybe she's just a D'uccle!

Thought I'd mention that I have hens born around the same time, and a few pullets have barely any comb at all, while others are getting ready to lay. Girls normally don't have big combs in this breed unless they are laying.

She does not seem unhealthy at all. I do have a silkie that is half the size of the other silkies and the size of her 11 week old babies. I wouldn't call her a runt.. She's just petit
