You said you won't be allowed to get her back, so try and look at it this way instead:

At $15, he's finding her a home where she probably won't be eaten and she'll be away from his wolf, who eats his chickens. At least he recognizes she's not safe as his coop isn't secure and is finding her a new home instead of just letting the wolf get her. She's alive and lucky to be looking for a new home away from there, so it works out for her. Sure, he may get $15, but he's not getting rich off her and maybe he'll save that $15 and put it towards building a better coop/run.

As for the person you gave her to, well, there are all kinds of people in the world. They don't all have your values. I think that's the hardest thing to deal with growing up and even as an adult.

eggs, you did a good thing. You did a great thing.

No one can ever take that away from you.

Even as this person, for whatever reason, has decided to sell the hen
you gave him do not let it bother you. As we can not control the actions
of another person, do not let their actions control you.

You gave your chicken in good faith, that a family may eat.

That is the truth here, that you will always be proud of. And in that simple
act of kindness that you showed to a random family, know that I, and many

What a jerk. unfortunately their out there.. we've learned that with breeding dogs. its unfortunate but take it as a learning experience and even for a free chicken check the people out a bit more and if possible have the agreement that she comes back if you find you don't like her. but for the same free of cost. but most people out there are gonna try even for that $15. if they can.
one of the real reasons we are on the top of the food chain is because humans have the ability to lie and cheat. as well as ( some) no conscious for bad things they have done to others. so just be aware and take people as they are and I'm sorry that you had to have this experience but better it happen over a chicken than something even more personal or worth more latter.
