Do I have a ROO???

I have 2 Buff Orpingtons that I got from my local feed store. I bought them together and they are about 3.5 months old. Within the last few weeks one of them has started to look more and more like a rooster to me. It's comb and wattle are noticeably bigger and more bright red than the other, she is slightly bigger in body size, and she is much more dominant than the other.



Do I have a roo???

Unfortunately I don't have a very current side picture right now, but this was right before one of them started looking a little different they are around 2 months in this picture (they are 3 1/2 months now). They look the same to me in this picture....I'll have to get one from the side now that one looks different. The one closer to the camera is the one that now looks more like a roo to me.

Really need a recent picture. Male feathering doesn't even start to develop until about 10 weeks of age.

Just looking at the differences between the two in comb and wattles, I would say that you have a cockerel there.

Darn, that's what I am afraid of. Rooster are illegal where I am at and it's pretty hard to hid a roo...

I will try to get a side and back pic later today. I'm really curious what others think because I am brand new to chickens.

hmm, didn't even know you could have that done with chickens. I had to look up what that meant
I probably would only go that route as a last resort if I couldn't find anyone that would take him in (if it is a "him")
