Do I have a Roo?

I picked 8 Black Australorps from the feed store. They are 9 weeks old now.
One has the large red comb and wattle representative of the Black Australorps but
the other 7 do not. Do I have one Roo? Or do I have 1 Black Australorp and 7 something else? You can see
the bird in the background does not have the same large red comb but is the same age.

Um... I'm not sure what is going on here... There's no way some of those chickens are Australorps. The only one in the picture that looks like an Australorp is the black one in front with the comb. As far as boy/girl goes... I think if it's 9 weeks old, it's probably a girl. My single-comb boys usually had much larger combs at 9 weeks than the one in the picture. Several of the others look like EE's.

Ok, having looked at some other pictures of 9 week old Black Australorps, I'm thinking yours is probably a boy... Several other members who posted pictures had birds with no wattles and much smaller/lighter combs.

It looks like you may have two black Australorps. The one in the back is a pullet, the one in the front a cockerel. The buff bird behind the cockerel looks like a Buff Orpington pullet. I can't get a good look at the other two, but they appear to be Easter Eggers. Judging the coloration of the two in the back you look like you may have one pullet (left) and one cockerel (right).

Oh Rats!
One thing I did NOT want with this flock is breeds I couldn't identify.
The lady at the feed store told me they were Black Australorp. She also told me this one was a Delaware.

Never Again...

I know what the other two are, I'm only questioning the Black ones.
I have two Buff Orps, Two Auracana which you see here, and supposed to have 8 Black Australorp.
So are the Black ones Australorp? What do you think?
I hope they are.

Some feed stores are very good about making sure they know which breeds they are carrying... but I have definitely heard a lot of stories about people getting the wrong ones. My advice is to get an idea for what breeds you want, then be sure to look up pictures (and maybe even print some out) of what they look like as chicks so you can rely on your own two eyes instead of someone who might not know a thing about chickens.

If the under color of their feet is yellow then they are Jersey Giants. If the under color is white then they are Australorps.
Also, you do not have Araucanas, they are Easter Eggers. Sadly, hatcheries mislabel their Easter Eggers as Araucanas, or Ameraucanas all the time.
