My eggs are being shipped to me. Do I have to, have to, set them? I'd like to out them in as fresh as possible. Thoughts?

yes you have to let them rest big end up in a carton. Because you want all the air to settle at the top of the egg. this will form the air cell. this air cell is the first thing the chick breaks in to when it is hatching. your eggs will be fine resting for 8 or so hours. what kind of eggs are they ?

I have Olive Eggers, Barred Olive Eggers, Blue/Black/Splash Marans, and Ameraucanas coming. I was told by several people that setting them doesn't make a huge difference. Just curious what others thought. . .

My last hatch, I took eggs right out of the box and put them directly into the bator and had great results. I think when you put them pointy end down and they are on an automatic turner in the bator, that it moves all the air up where it belongs right away. I think if I were setting them on their sides like a chicken, I'd first let them settle pointy end down for at least 8 hours.

You've made me feel a little more confident. I do have a turner. . .
