Do I keep the heat lamp on 24/7?

same here, I used red because they were on the dryer right outside my bedroom. But I use the same in the coop on the nights they need it and I think being used to the red they settle down easier at night. Ive read other people say they are up all night with it in the coop and I wonder if this makes any difference.

My chicks are are always outside by 8 weeks with no heat lamp as long as they are fully feathered and i've never had one that wasnt at about 6 weeks. I mostly have had standards but my polish and mille fleur were no different. I'm in NorCal too and it would go down to 30 or 40 and as long as they have a coop without drafts.. they will be fine. Never lost one yet.
I did it gradually though, kept them in a garage type area without heat before moving them outside to the coop/run.
