Do I need 2 coops? Or just a larger coop?

I would build a new coop that is twice as big as you think you need, then keep the small coop to brood the many chicks you're gonna have. Silkies are like tribbles.

I don't think they need as much room either, but I just want to be safe so I don't have pecking issues. They do all seem to get along so far but I'm sure that can change. At night they just pile up together in a corner and snuggle. It's the cutest thing.

Try to put shelves on the walls , keep them busy and collect the eggs ... we make the best sourdough waffles with them ...yummy .

Mine “ roost “ on top of the crate that has a 1x1 inch edge ... they are so cute

My husband is already displeased with my lack of control when it comes to chickens. If I get anymore, I'll need that extra coop for myself.

Then just make sure it’s extra big with plenty of room for you and the girls!

I understand where you are coming from, but do not add more chickens if you do not have the SPACE or TIME or MONEY. I would still keep an extra coop just in case, though...
