Do I need a rooster for each variety of chickens or only one rooster?

If I were you... I would keep the one with the best temperament..and the biggest bird for your breeding purposes. I’m picking my future rooster now. I have a BR...but he is MEAN..but beautiful. I’m replacing him with a NHR...I’m choosing the calmest...biggest. There is one with a better comb and wattle...but we’re in a cold climate..so that’s not a plus. Do you have the chance to separate them at all to tell how they act? That how I would do it if you could...but... I’m new to this, I’d rather have a nice rooster to me than deal with the jerk that Spike was this past year...good luck!!

Is there any way you can separate the roosters from the hens while you're waiting to sell them?
Yes I have a chicken tractor next to the pen and had planned on moving most of them in there temporarily until I decide what to do with them all. Would you all eat the roosters or sell them? I am not sure which is the best thing to do with them. I am not set up with the whiz bang for removing feathers or anything.

I would eat them...at the auction last night..roosters went for around $1.... You could try to list them on a local website...I sell rabbits that way..and try to sell them for more...but, most people on my website, are even giving them away, because..they love them and don’t want to kill them themselves. For us...we process them..because..we have put in our labor, our money, our love into growing These animals..and I’m not only talking about roosters..we have a whole farm full of animals...but, we feel..if we’ve done all of that..then we should at least break even. Last night we made a mistake of taking some chickens to the sale and lost money..bantams....went for $1.25.... processing is a pain..we don’t have a set up yet either...look it up on line..you get the water to 145* it helps...or just skin the bird.

I did put an add on Craigs List and a man wants to pay me 5.00 each for them so I may consider his offer if I dont get any better offers. Just to get rid of them.

I have watch several videos on processing and may try to buy those rubber fingers to use with a drill. That seemed to be the cheapest option for when we get ready to process them.
