do i need grit?

Read the label.

I've never seen chick starter WITH grit.

But it's not a huge concern not having store-bought grit since they WILL find something in the soil that is sharp enough.

You need grit if you are giving them treats.

I use Chick Starter Crumbles by Manna Pro - I called the toll free telephone number on the package and their nutrition department said it did not contain grit.

I have been offering my 4 week olds grit but they don't seem that interested (they are enjoying broccoli, so I though they should have some). Some of the bits in the grit seem far too big for these chicks. Should I grind it down? Mine are not outside yet - weather been a bit chilly here in the UK - but about to get hot I hear.
