So I know laying chickens need nests to do theIr business and that starts around 18 weeks but do i need to have nests in there before that? I was wondering because I’d like to give them more in there to hang out. We’ve had lot of storms lately.

No they don't need them yet, however it's a good idea to put in the nests at least a couple of weeks before you expect onset of lay (so 14 weeks if you have production birds) in order to allow them to explore and get used to the nests, and to make sure that they're not going to spend the night in them, as you want to get a handle on that if they're going to do it, before they start laying.

Thanks so much!!
