do i need oyster shells

hello i have 11 hens they are 4 months old when i put them on layer feed do i need oyster shells and if so how do i give it to them

Oyster shells once they start laying is proper feeding if a hen gets Calcium deficient they can get egg bound. Most times the hen dies. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

how much do i give to them

I keep the pail pictured above 3/4 quarters full all the time, if you fill it, a lot will get wasted. I have five hens and a 5 pound bag lasts about 11 months. GC
