Do I need pure Ameraucauna Roo to make blue eggs?

If you have pure Ameraucana hens then you should do quite well if you get a pure male to breed with them and sell the chicks.
Big IF ;)
If these birds were bought from a farm store, it's unlikely they are Ameraucana.
They may lay blue eggs but their offspring may not carry the blue egg gene.

If they were bought sexed at the feed store for around $4... they are EE. Some hatcheries are selling true Ameraucana... usually for around $18.

If you cross them to a white egg rooster... they will still lay blue eggs as the blue is dominant to white in the egg department. Maybe even more often.. if the roo is from a prolific laying breed.

If they are indeed EE and you want blue eggs from offspring... better get an Ameraucana, or maybe a CC Legbar rooster, or other blue egg only breed.

Enjoy your ladies without a rooster harassing them for now. When you get ready... be patient and find the right boy for your flock and goals... I see EE roosters free ALL the time... and I personally grow out all my boys (currently 17 of them) before selecting breeders and even have Lav Am boys some times from a friends hatching eggs... All my personal Ameraucana roosters are bantam... so not a good fit as most standard size hens will point and laugh instead of squatting. My extras go to the freezer so I don't worry about getting new homes. But I see several roosters and types daily in the Craigslist farm and garden section. It's a good place to check when you're ready. Discernment is needed on your part to read between the lines of what people say.

Good luck! :wee

Definitely EE... I love that you can usually tell them apart easily since they don't wear matching dresses! :)

Looks like some are blue based feathers and may throw some of the cutest blue chicks. Egg genes that get passed can be anyone's guess though. :love
