Do I Really Need Expensive, Organic, Non-GMO Feed?

Foods that aren't organic aren't necessarily bad for you. There just isn't enough data yet as to what is and isn't bad for people in the long term. It's probably a decent idea to eat organic when possible, a lot of artificial pesticides are pretty suspect, but something not being organic isn't as much of a red flag as some people seem to think.

So if I make it to 40 with health problems then it must be organic food is bad? Or maybe... I have back problems because of a bad work environment and heart problems because I'm genetically predispositioned to them. Just going by one account isn't evidence of anything one way or another.

I think you should do what feels right for you and your family. I feel better exercising regularly, growing my own veggies (not "certified organic" but I sure know what goes into them: water, sun and dirt), and eating organic when I can do so, and I try to get my husband to do some of the same. But what's right for me isn't necessarily how someone else wants to live.
I agree no arguments from me. One can make an argument either way. To simplify what I was trying to get at is I am surely no going to give my chickens organic feed when I myself don't eat strictly organic. I think a quality feed from a quality manufacturer will do just fine for me.
I believe that people have a genetic makeup that determine the health issues they have not because the food is organic or not. Quality food not organic if that makes sense. One has to give it up to the marketing for organic everything now adays. For example I can sell you a banana half the size for twice as much. :idunno
Here is another good one, I would say the organic food category has really taken off over the past 10 years. Yet over the same period our child obesity rate is the highest ever, heck the obesity rate in this country is the highest ever. Due to this we have to completely change the school menu to be "healthy" for kids. It's not the school menus fault it's the lazy parents that grab junk food for the kids and everything is prepackaged junk because it's easy and convenient. Oh yeah and kick your kids butt outside to play and not sit on the couch playing dang games. Ok sorry for the rant but I don't think going organic will solve that problem either.
Again Quality food doesn't mean it has to be organic.

Yep, it has hit a new fad level of popularity, at the same time the regulations and enforcement has dropped in quality, making the term 'organic' is just as slippery a facade as 'cage free', "free range', etc.

Many folks can't afford to buy foods labeled 'organic'. I'd like to see the obesity data correlated with family income data.

In all fairness you did cut my quote short. That's the thing it is not a matter of having to buy "organic". For example, you can buy a package of hamburger for $4.00 and take the time to make your own hamburgers or go to frozen food and buy prepackaged hamburgers that is twice the price and half as good for you. Yes I am sure income disparity plays a role, but I firmly believe that most just take the easy way out due to laziness. That $4.00 package is cheaper and better for you. Yes not all frozen food is junk but just trying to get a point across. Again it's quality food which does not necessarily equal more expensive.

I did, and gonna do it again ;) ...
...as I was only addressing, and supporting your view, of a couple key points for the entire audience of this topic.

Agrees that buying less processed foods can save money and be healthier, am a long time 'bulk' food buyer.....but I don't work full time or have numerous people/kids to feed, tho I do understand that other side too.

Organic farming principles generally mean that not only the plant wasn't sprayed with chemicals ... but that the ground was re-fortified with natural stuff ... instead of adding synthetic fertilizer, they used composted poop ... some farmers add real actual minerals, while some use synthetic ...

At 40 years old many, including myself ... we're in the prime of life still ... give yourself another 20-30 years or so ... and you might better understand what the "golden years" are all about ... hint - start saving your gold now, your gonna need it! Dr's ain't cheap! ;)
