My boss - er, I mean wife - has a collection of cast iron. Dutch ovens, spiders, trivets, etc. There are lamb-and-lion cornbread pans hanging on the stairs. On the wall behind the stove are Scotch broilers for cooking meat on a hearth.
Too cute! And Oblio13, your boss's cast iron collection makes me green with envy! I have a few pieces of WW & Griswold, but nothing close to hers! Love to use them, though-there's nothing like a big pot of something good simmering away in cast iron.

We use the Dutch ovens, spiders, trivets, forks and ladles almost daily. We have a couple candle holders on the table. I even rendered bear fat once and twisted a wick out of milkweed fluff to use a betty lamp, and dipped mullein stalks in it to try a rush holder. We haven't tried the Scotch broilers yet, but (like visiting Italy) we talk about it and intend to.

What, am I the ex-husband of your dreams, too?!
ah, maybe not, you eat too much meat!!!
what type of animal used to own that rug???huge cow, polar bear?, femish bunny?
I could slide along that floor in my socks without getting a splinter could I not?
I cook on top of my stove. Steaks taste amazing when they have been seared in cast iron pan heated fire hot with wood. It is really different than searing them on a stove top.
