I have three 3 month old and two 2 month old BBS Orp pullets- my roo is 6 months old and more than willing to do his thing- do I wait till the girls are squatting to put them together? Will that be my signal that they are old enough to take on their intended husband? I am not sure when Orps mature. . . . [IMG]
  2. Don`t see why you can`t put them together now, for a trial run. Young roosters, like yours are sometimes overzealous and need some time to mature before they become gentlemen, so keep an eye on him. You didn`t say if your 2 age groups of pullets are penned together at this time. If not, that`s a good place to start, then after things have smoothed out, insert the rooster. All kinds of variables here. Some pullets never exhibit the "squatting" action you mention. Chickens are individuals, just like people, so you kinda have to feel your way through situations like this. Good luck.........Pop
