They are lovely hens! They'll be less stressed without that particular rooster. Looks like my original flock there with the Buff Orps, SLWyandottes, Reds and Barred Rocks. Nice healthy looking ladies.
Oh what a beautiful flock! Such lovely ladies! Can anyone honestly blame that rooster for showing up and wanting to be a part of that flock? What a shame he turned out to be such a butt-head!
*sigh* Just tragic.
Thanks for sharing an update and picture of your lovely girls with us Anne. I'm so glad to hear that things are returning to near normal. If you're like me (and I suspect you may be
) I always feel so off center any time there has been a disruption in the daily tranquility and harmony of my flock. Their happiness means everything to me. I can't explain it. But that's the wonderful thing about folks here at BYC. We don't have to explain it to each other......we already get it!
That is a seriously beautiful flock. They are all picture-perfect. I'd love to see more photos. I'm glad they have you to help them get over this trauma.
I had a rooster just like that a year ago, he just wondered up to my back yard.I dont see why i didnt have any chickens a year ago. Im VERY sorry for your loss!
I know, I know.....it's not funny the way all of this chapter in your life turned out.....but the way you said it.......
Who knows......maybe some day there will be a very sweet rooster in your future. Please don't judge all roo's by this one very bad example! There are roosters out there who are sweet, loving, gentle, well mannered, and above all, NOT KILLERS!!! I hope you and your girls can find one like that someday.

I do as well because I kinda liked my girls having an additional protector around. Maybe someday.....
