Do Lavender Orpingtons Usually Hatch Late?

I have 2 Lavender Orpington eggs in the incubator right now and i also have other breeds in there too that have already hatched. Before the eggs went on lockdown, we candled them. One of the Lavender orpington eggs looked really good and the other one looked like it had maybe stopped developing. It is now day 22 and I have no pips in my Lavender Orpington eggs. Does the breed usually hatch late?

And I don't see anything of Lavender eggs taking longer to hatch.

You might want to use a small tweezer and make a small hole and see if its alive.

Please don’t poke any holes in the eggs. That is a horrible idea and it may hurt them if they are alive. Especially if they aren’t ready to come out. It would be better to candle again and see if you see any movement in there. Do you hear any peeping? Did you have a calibrated thermometer and hygrometer in there? Was the temperature running low at all? Sometimes if it is they can be late. And sometimes hatches are just spread out. My first one I had birds hatch both a day early and a day or two late so be patient!

Okay thank you for this. there is no peeping in the eggs that i know of. i did have a hygrometer and a thermometer. the humidity and the temperature stayed in the area that it should. the temp was always 99.5 and the humidity stayed in the 50s range the whole time. On lockdown the Humidity was in between 60 and 70 percent. Thank you

No problem! I would candle again and see if they are alive. And was it calibrated? Because believe it or not, even brand new incubators can be wrong so important to test it and make sure it’s actually what it says it is. But if you already knew that then ignore me hahah just if it was reading one thing but really slightly cool or hot they could be early or late, you know? Or they could just be stragglers! I’ve had chicks pip and zip in an hour and others take 12+ hours to even start zipping and sometimes they can take 24.

I just candled them and i didn’t see any movement inside, but i’m happy that i got 12 to hatch

Aw I’m sorry! You could possibly open it if you’re sure they’re dead and see why if you wanted but I’d probably give it a day or two to make sure.
