Do little hens-to-be act this way!?

No, that wouldn't be a dark brahma, as its legs are unfeathered. Maybe they're talking about the 'cochin?'

Hmmm ... so someone thinks perhaps this one (the biggest bully) is a Dark Brahma eh? Well I surely don't have a clue... and so far the Feed Store has been wrong on several.

ahh... ok ... that's probably two that I have to re-home ... not unexpected, but was hoping differently. Not a good average on chicks that were supposed to be sexed. Sigh.

I think the black one is a roo. Not sure that the other one is. I have had baby roos pick fights with pullets equally as much as the other cockerels. Still one roo for sexed chicks isn't much fun.

Also, noticed you live in OC! Howdy, neighbor!! We're "up the hill" near Victorville, work in the IE and I also go to grad school at CSU Fullerton.

The EE looks a lot like my EE roo when he was young. His comb grew really slow and he started to get red feathers on his wings and his tail was pretty small. I thought it was a hen untill I saw those pointy saddle feathers and shiny tail feathers. He did a lot of that squaring off with the other roos that he was housed with, but when I separated him with hens only he was fine. Hes actually turned into a very handsome and calm roo I just love him. But I would still give that one some time, my hens did stuff like that until they established a pecking order. But if it is a roo that would be too bad since you can't keep it, I just love that color <3

Im not sure about the other one, Im not experienced with all breeds yet I'm still learning

Will give the EE one a little more time.. at least to make sure. But may get that little black troublemaker outta there pretty soon. Just a onery, mean little thing. If the little EE didn't have a much larger head, body and legs than the other 2 ee's I'd feel more confident. But maybe I can still get lucky

.. it is a pretty little thing.

And hi to Hesperia ... wow you are down by me often if you are going to school at CSUF. Well kinda close. I'm in Villa Park... a very small city near Orange/Anahim Hills.
