Do loud noises bother chicks?

Somethime in the very near future I'm going to get a few Buff Orpington chicks. If I keep the brooder in the garage, on the side farthest from the car, will it bother them when my dad takes his car in and out? Do they mind loud noises? I hope not, because that's the only place I can think of keeping them... Also, the garage is not heated, but with a normal heat lamp will they be ok?

Thanks

Yes, loud noises can scare chicks. Make sure to test the temperature of your lights well before you get your chicks, to make sure that you can get the temp to the right place, and keep it from fluctuating too much between night and day. The garage isn't the best place for new born chicks, if you can't get the temp right I wouldn't do it.

thanks. I think I can get the temp right, I mean, it's not freezing in there and it will warm up on the spring. I'll talk to my dad about his car or another area for the chicks.

I have my three chicks in the kitchen in a large wire dog crate, heat lamp, and they are now very accusomted to sounds, from the tv to the vacumn to the dogs and music, plus I have done a lot of handling, and they are curious and not skitterish at all.
