Do Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird Crumbles Smell Weird???

I don't have gamebird starter readily available near me so I ordered it online because it was recommended to feed my peafowl chicks, turkey poults, and quail...I just opened the package of Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird starter crumbles and it smells weird compared to other starter feeds I've used...is that because of the yeast? I just want to make sure it hasn't gone bad because it states on the bag that if it looks or smells bad that it can kill the chicks....that's not very helpful to me because I don't know what it's supposed to smell like! lol
I have chicks currently hatching in the incubator so I've run into a bit of an issue if this feed is bad. After inspecting the bag I did find that there was a finger-sized hole in it but I think it happened during shipping.

I have not used much Manna pro feed but one small bag last year. Your the best judge to be honest. If it doesn’t seem right likely it is not.
I would order or find something else if it was up to me. Why take the chance. You have at least 3 days from hatch before feed is needed.

Hm, I have gamebird starter crumb (different brand) from when I hatched Quails and it has a very fishy smell.

However, the one I use has fishmeal or something in it hence they fishy smell.

Maybe it's a similar smell?

I have a few 40lb bags of organic grower starter feed right now that I've been feeding my entire flock while the broody hens are raising chicks but it doesn't smell anything like this. It's not a moldy smell but it doesn't smell...good? either. I guess I could start calling around to farm stores to see if there is something else I can get locally or better yet, the same product so I can see if it smells the same. lol

It's not a fishy smell but it might be a yeasty smell, lol. It does say there's an added yeast culture so I'm hoping that's all it is and maybe someone else that has used the product will know what I'm smelling?

My husband came home and I immediately asked him to stick his nose in the feed to smell it, lol. He agreed that it's definitely the smell or fermentation or yeast so i guess at this point I just need to find out if that's normal for this product...

Just in case someone comes across this post later for their own needs, I did come across this as I was scouring through reviews. I feel like it's probably safe now but probably won't be purchasing it again...

I used this feed last year, and am using it now. The birds love it, and the niacin is more than what’s needed for ducklings.
I’ll stick my nose in my current bag in a little while and see if I can smell what you are talking about.

This is the feed that I used last year and I am currently using. The birds seem to like it, but most importantly for me the niacin levels are high enough for ducklings. In a little while I’ll stick my nose into the feed bag and see if I can confirm a sour fragrance note.

Just to give you an example.
A while ago I purchased a bag of Nutrena Country Feeds All Flock (budget feed) and it smelled so good I wanted to eat it. Now I purchase Nutrena All Flock (premium feed) and I don’t like the smell it has no where near the sweet smell. The premium feed does contain a probiotic so I’m guessing that’s the difference in smell.
