Hi
So far I have had chickens, turkeys, and regular domestic ducks like Swedish and Buffs and so far all of the eggs I've ever seen have normal bright yellow yolks. But this winter I have added to young moscovie hens to the flock I've started gettin a few duck eggs this week and the ones that I've cracked so far had more of a brownish yellow color in the yolks and I know they're fresh and they dont stick or anything but they just have a darker color that makes them look kinda gross so I was wondering if these eggs must be from the scovies and if this was normal. I know free range is supposed to make them darker but all of my ducks have always free ranged and eggs from the Swedish and Buffs have always been the normal color. So does anyone know if this is a moscovy thing and they normally have darker yolks or doesn anyone know of another reason why duck eggs would be darker. I'm not sure that the scovies are the ones that laid them, I just figured they did since they were different than what the other ducks normally lay. And I noticed that one of them had a fertility bullseye and I dont have a Scovie drake yet, just a Silver Swedish drake and I've never seen him try to breed the scovies so that makes me wonder if it is from the scovies but I dont know. Any ideas ?
