Do our chicks need grit if they are eating tiny moths?

It seems that chickens of all ages have more I.Q. than we give then credit for. If we can leave them on a safe area of ground they can do very well. A hen never seems to have a problem providing for her chicks. I think 99% of chickens problems are man made.

I buy chick grit from TSC when my chicks eat anyhing besides their Starter feed.
