Do owls eat road kill?

The description of round face with white all around makes me think of Barn Owl but when you add he was the size of a small dog, I no longer think so. Here is the size of a full grown Barn Owl. You can get a good idea of his size in the photo of him drinking from the cat fountain. And an even better idea in the one where he is trying to bath in a duck water bowl.

I helped a (probable juvenile) Stygian out for a week and released him. I hope he made it. I know they are a chicken predator, but they are also the reason the grackles stopped roosting in the tree next to the restaurant. They are a much needed population control of pest species.

Owls absolutely will eat road kill. Think of it as a Vegas buffet. So will most predatory birds(most predators full-stop really). Just like vultures kill and eat live food sometimes. Nothing is absolute in nature except death.
