Hello all pigeon fanciers,

I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to - Can domestic pigeons carry Fowl Cholera or any other diseases harmful to chickens? I read that wild pigeons can be carriers, but it said nothing about domestic.

I would like to get some pigeons, but my chickens I already have come first and since I don't practice "hyper-sanitary cleaning" between pens, there is a very good chance that poop and dust would be transferred some.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it. MW

Anything that can be carried by wild (animal) is likely in the population of domestic (animal) as the wild and domestic can interact in certain situations.

Some diseases are more common in domestic population because symptoms can be managed while the wild ones would die.

Some diseases are more common in the wild population due to preventive measures in the domestic population (example domestics and rabies).

My chickens and doves live together with no known issues.
