Do quails kept as pets live longer than quails kept as meat? And how long would a coturnix quail that lives in a cage indoors live up to? And how do you extend the quail's lifespan?

Funny, but seriously what is the real lifespan of a coturnix quail that is kept as a pet in a clean environment and given high quality food?
I would assume the life span to be about the same. Maybe an additional year or two at most. Most of the people here give the best care and feed they can to their flocks, including the meat birds, so it's hard to say what the difference would be. If I recall correctly, the typical life span of a Coturnix quail is abt 5yrs... if you're lucky, you may get 7-8yrs with them. It all depends on genetics and general upkeep/health

I'm serious too. Ones that are raised for meat are butchered for meat. If they're not raised for meat, they live the same as any other quail.

They seem to live 2-3 years as layers, maybe longer if they're pampered.

The very nature of you're question is 'self explanatory'!
But, just for grins :D if you don't butcher the meat birds they can live just as long as one's you'd keep as pets....usually 7 to 8 years, maybe more, maybe less, depending on disease, predators, and other unforseen factors.

If by meat you are referring to jumbo coturnix quail vs standard size coturnix quail, I haven't noticed a difference in life span. But if you keep the hens laying year around they live 2/3 yrs while the roos live 3/4 years. There are facebook groups for pet quail keepers that have owners with quails over 4 yrs of age. 6 yrs seems to be the average max for captivity.
