Do Raccoons attack during the day?

Raccoons just ate my rooster and the chest out of my hen in the 3 minutes I walked inside to get a drink, at 3:00pm! I ran out scooping the remaining 4 next to the coop.
My fault for not having them in their coop and letting them free range while we played in the yard. I was hoping daylight was safe, and was more concerned with red tailed hawks here. I’ll keep them in their covered fenced area from now on.

I trained my house dogs to watch my chickens because I already had them when I got chickens but its been too hot to put mine outside.Coons won't hardly come around here. Sorry you lost your hen please be careful.That coon will be back soon!
