Do Rhode Island Reds ever go broody?

My rir is broody as we speak. Have 9 pekin eggs and was going to incubate them but I'm thinking momma hen might can do better job than I can do for sure. I just hope she keep her brood and not be a psycho momma. But usually it you see a rir go broody then they usually make awesome mother's. They are very protective over their nest.

My RIRs have NEVER gone broody; 16 of them. ‘Sad face’ They tried for less than a day and said “Nooooo way!!” I had to get a surrogate hen. She was the best broody hen and I am so glad I have her.

Additionally: they are bred not to be broody. However, there is always a chance as nature is always making things work. Good luck and please let us know! I’d love to get mine to raise their own babies lol
