Do RIR start laying later?

I have been told that RIR chickens start laying later than others. My one RIR is pushing 24 weeks and hasn’t started laying. Her pelvis measures wide enough. She is the dominant hen with no Roos. Advice please?

On average Rhode island reds start laying between 5-7 months of age. Fall maturing pullets often take longer to begin to lay. I personally am not in a hurry for my pullets to begin too soon, and prefer they mature more before they take on the stress of egg production. Those that start laying earlier can have more troubles.

Oh, that's good to know. My pullets are different breeds and 20 weeks old and the only eggs in my nest boxes are the ceramic variety.
But my RIR was accepting the affections of my Delaware cockerel over 2 weeks ago so I was hoping she would start laying. Nada.

2 of my 4 RIR from mypetchicken started laying at 20 weeks. They are now almost 23 weeks and the other two have not started. 1 of the two "hold outs" looks close, the other one looks to be a few weeks even further behind.

My rir’s started laying around 22 weeks. Now a few of my ee’s were another story and didn’t start laying until almost 28
