Do roosters crow more when they are cockerels?

We’ve had some very noisy teenager cockerels, some not so much. So far, the few we’ve kept have slowed down a bit with a little age. But, it will vary by bird.

How many females? You may need to keep 2 of the males in a bachelor pad if you don’t have very many females. The females can be over-mated and stressed if there are too many males and not enough females.

Actually yes they do. In my experience cockerels seem to crow way more than the adults. I've noticed their constant crowing tapers off by the time they're 12-18 months old. But if you have more than one rooster they can get into crowing contests that can be an all day chorus. :barnie :he
And some boys just like to crow :)
LOL we have 2 roosters, hatched at same time by same hen. They are 20 weeks old and the copper maran mix never shuts up! He will finally around 10am and pretty quiet until dusk unless the rooster across the way starts he will answer; the other rooster a Wyandotte mix will crow once in awhile throughout the day usually in answer to the other one but not ALL morning like the maran mix. I am hoping the maran will quiet down as he approaches 1 yr old; I have ordered a no crow collar which is supposed to make them not be able to crow as loud - it's not here yet, but has anyone ever tried one of these collars for their rooster?

I've heard too many horror stories about the collars to use them. But I'm lucky enough to live in an area where everybody within earshot has multiple roosters, so nobody notices my noisy boys. :)
