Do Roosters Kick?

Where are you located? My husbands sister lives in Mustang. Hubby grew up in Hobart.

I am about 30 or so miles north east of mustang.........I am not familiar with Hobart...... I am just 20 miles east of downtown Okc...........

Hobart is a tiny, tiny town in the middle of nowhere! If I remember we went to Altus for dinner, cuz there was nothing in Hobart but DQ! Not much of the town left, I don't think.

your rooster can hurt your kid so bad they can wind up with stitches. you need to listen when they are scared of roosters. i'm not sure whether it matters or not if it's called "kicking," he's hurting your kid. why it would make a difference if he "only" went after one kid? why would you refuse to get rid of a rooster? i'm not sure why won't you believe your own kid?

well I just had a big fight with my roo "Roto"(full grown standard brahma)this morning. I was taking the trash out and I noticed him getting close. He started for me and I tried to walk faster but he caught up to me! He tried to nail me by flying up with his feet. I would suppose you would call that kicking. I retaliated by kicking the H@#L out of him!!! He kept coming back for more! I guess I kicked (a full out kick with all I had in me) him 6 times before I could make headway for the door, grabbed a push broom that was near by, and here he came again I took that broom and nailed the crap out of him and he finally backed off. At that point in the confrontation I realized that he will have to be dealt with in another way, I won't hesitate to get my cookpot ready and make soup out of him. If he does this again to me or my family... Roto will be no more. I can't understand anyone keeping a surley roo if he is threatening you family!

I dont know---I think I would get rid of it too. I love my roo but there is not really option. Maybe the OP thought her daughter was being sensitive at first and thought she didnt want to get rid of the roo becuase of it. We all make mistakes.

Well, either its time for teh pot, a new home or some work with your daughter and the roo!

Just be careful with other peope kids around, he will probably do the same and you dont want a PO'ed parent and a lawsuit on your hands.

I figure if you are too scared to go outside, something has to give and it won't be me, it will be the roo. Gotta keep my axe sharp and ready to go.

In my opinion, if you are scared of your pet, it's not a pet anymore.

Also, does this rooster have spurs? A spur would be a pointy thing sticking out the back of his leg. If he is jumping up at your daughter feet first and has spurs he can and will tear her flesh open. This is true for anyone or anything he goes after. Regardless of spurs, roosters hurt whether they are "kicking" or biting. A rooster pecks a lot harder than a hen. I had a rooster peck my hand open one time he bit me so hard. I've also received many cuts, bruises and blood blisters from roosters. If your daughter says she's getting hurt, believe her.
