In my opinion, if you are scared of your pet, it's not a pet anymore.
Also, does this rooster have spurs? A spur would be a pointy thing sticking out the back of his leg. If he is jumping up at your daughter feet first and has spurs he can and will tear her flesh open. This is true for anyone or anything he goes after. Regardless of spurs, roosters hurt whether they are "kicking" or biting. A rooster pecks a lot harder than a hen. I had a rooster peck my hand open one time he bit me so hard. I've also received many cuts, bruises and blood blisters from roosters. If your daughter says she's getting hurt, believe her.
