Okay, I have 3 breeds of chicks, EE's, RIR's and a Dominique. Do all roosters get the leg spur or only certain breeds?

I think all roo's have them..

But don't be fooled hens have what appears to be a BUMP where the spur would grow on a rooster.

You can use a dremel drill to trim off the spur...
IF you can catch him! LOL

Yes, i *think* all breeds have spurs...

All chickens have the little bumps on the back of their legs as chicks, it's only when they're older that the spurs grow on the boys. Not sure what age though...

Hens can grow spurs too, but they are mostly not as massive as those of the roos.

We acctually had a girl enter 16, 3 yr old isabrown hens(8 pairs) because she thought the ones with spurs were roosters, was funny when the judge told her they are all hens........

If it's old enough (and not Cubalaya apparently

).

Keep in mind it's the LAST male characteristic to show up, months after male feathering, crowing, mating etc.
