Are Runner Ducks a more seasonal layer than Khaki Campbells? My Runners are about 18 months old now and aren't leaving eggs in their duck house when they're released each morning the way they used to. I think that they began when they were about 6-7 months old, so they were beginning to lay at this time last year. Do they typically take a break each year around this time?

I miss my green duck eggs...

Mine only stop when molting. It can depend a little on the bloodline or strain as to how many eggs they lay each year. Are yours molting at the moment??

Well, either they're molting or having pillow fights each night in their duck house! The floor is littered with feathers, so I guess that's it. Now that I think of it, the Khakis & the Pekins slowed down for a while there while they were molting.

I have one black & one chocolate brown Runner who are both showing white patches, could that be due to their molt? Will they return to their previous lovely dark colors?

Its getting cooler here and my runners are not laying anymore. And as they get older and with each molt they will slowly get a little more white on them.

Quote:The lady I bought my runners from said that color like chocolate will get more and more white with each molt... not sure about black or other colors... To answer the original question - my runners stopped for a bit in the really cold weather last year and now I have 4 month olds so I am not expect any eggs til spring...is there such a thing as a buff indian runner?

Quote:Do runners lay green eggs? The female I had last year didn't...the were white eggs. Maybe color of the bird makes a difference in the color of shell?

Yes it does. I have blue one that lays green eggs and my black laid blueish green eggs.
