I have read that eggs need to sit ~ 24 hours before putting them in the bator, but do they need to sit if you are putting them under a broody? If so, how long and do they need to be turned?

You should let them sit for at least 12 hours, with pointy ends down. In a cool dark room.
Have Fun and Good Luck with your hatch.

I have let some eggs rest and I have opened them from the shipping package and stuck them in the bator and seen no difference. I have had really good and really poor hatches doing both ways. I asked Kevin Porter of porters rare heritage turkeys (ships thousands of hatching eggs) what he recomends and he said it doesn't make a but of difference and you just let your eggs get a day older. I do usually let them get to room temp if they come from the PO really clod.

I've hatched now 3 times
First, took the shipped eggs and stuck them in there
Most hatched
Last two times let them sit pointy side down for 24 hours

Most hatched

Soooo

Whatcha think?..hehehhe

Goodnluck to u

I will say though that I will let the ones coming tommorrow sit 24 hours though

Just because...I just want to do all I can to hel achieve the best hatch rate from shipped eggs
Xoxo

Thanks. The broodie has been sitting for quite a while now on some non-fertile eggs so we are just going to give her the eggs when they come. The eggs will be traveling by car so hopefully they don't get too shaken up. I'm assuming the reason to let the eggs sit is for the yolk to go to the right place?
