I just had a batch of silkies in the bator.3 hatched out of 7. When I opened the remaining eggs, the air cells seemed small and a couple of the chicks were really big. One had internally pipped with it's shoulder...and must have drowned??Humidity at lockdown was 65-75% when hatches were going on...highest it got was 80% for a short period.
I did not have a hygrometer for days 1-18, but I only had 2 of 3 channels filled and then they would dry out before I filled em again. I had bantam cochin eggs in with them and got almost 100% on those.
So what's the deal with the silkies? I do have a new hygrometer now for the next hatch..
ETA...the chicks seemed to range in size from normal to big.One was really big.
