My silkies don't particularly like the rain, though the like to splash in the puddles during summer. In winter I try to keep them as dry as possible because of their hair like feathers which offer no rain protection or protection from the cold ( when wet) . Typically they would spend the wet cold months in the tunnel house we had at the old house where it was always warm and dry and they did really well. Occasionally ive brought them inside to dry them using a hair dryer. I have one special silkie who is mentally challenged a bit and she loves getting wet and jumping in muddy puddles, when the funs over she come up to the sliding door and squarks to be let in because she is cold, so I give her a wash if needed and dry her up ( to be on the safe side she spends the night on really bad days where shes gotten wet in a wee crate by the fire) .
But I try to keep them as dry as possible in winter to avoid the risks of sickness and death
