I am looking into breeds I would like to raise. I like the Silver Appleyards(?) but would like to know if they go broody. Does anyone know? I cannot find an answer to this question anywhere. Thanks in advance. Also do they fly well?

Honeydoll,

My wife has some and we have had them go broody.
Ours didn't star going broody till they were around 2 years old.
Just keep in mind that Appleyards were bred to be a meat type bird (like the Pekin) and in turn dont go broody as often as a "egg production" type duck.

This is a breed I would be interested to find out more about because I recently got some Silver Appleyard Calls.

I have 4 Silver Appleyards. They have just reached maturity and I don't know if they'll go broody. I am very interested to see the responses you get.

As far as flight, they are much too heavy to fly. The best they can do is about a 3 foot hop. They also seem to be clumsier than my other ducks. lol

They are the gourmet roasting duck though and lay big beautiful eggs.
