Do snakes dig holes ???

It only got one, but was waiting to eat another . I found a picture of a snake that looks the same called a white oak gray rat snake.Kind of confusing because white oak also refers to a copper head but I'm glad its not one of those !

I checked the coop everywhere where there could be a hole, but once again, it wasn't the coop it was a hole in the dirt floor !!! After the little chick disappeared I moved them to what I thought was a safer coop, but it was in there waiting until it got hungry again ! Got to figure out something. Maybe dig around the whole coop and run and put something in there like hardware cloth ? that would be pricey though. My coop and run is pretty big, and moving it is not an option. That thing will be there long after I'm gone unless someone comes in with a bulldozer. LOL

I have chicken wire and hardware cloth on the cage walls but they are coming in under the wood frame through the dirt. ( the floors are dirt) Where I found the holes I stuffed metal screen and then covered it back up with a brick on top. The snake was about 3 1/2 or 4 ft. long.

Enola, that wouldn't work. they are coming through the dirt. digging a hole, not just going under the wood. Sorry if I didn't explain clearly.
