Do some hens not lay?

I purchased 10 chickens beginning of April, 8 have been laying consistently for almost 2 months now (marans, Orpington,EE, barred rock). I have two that are not, one is a Brahma and the other is an Olive egger. Do they just need some more time?

Some can take longer to start. Brahma are more a heritage meat breed, so often they won't start laying to 7-8 months, and even longer.

This time of year I always add a month or two to the expected start date as the lessening daylight will affect them starting.

You could have some super late bloomers, or duds. If they don't lay once spring comes, then it's safe to say you got some freeloaders.
