Do some rooster not crow at all??

My 14 week old BO cockerel is even quieter than all the girls. He rarely makes a peep of any kind. The only time he ever says anything is if someone tries to steal his treat. Then he BWACKS and puffs up his feathers. Otherwise...nothing.

Dream on.....If someone has a rooster that truly doesn't crow, please contact me, because I would loooove to have a rooster. Any rooster will crow if he is not kept is his place by the top roo. Some take awhile to find their crow, but it will happen!

I'd personally be thankful that he's not started his crowing yet...

I've heard that rooster crowing can be quite annoying: random fact (I heard it's true) a rooster can't crow unless his neck is fully extended.

You all are lucky. I have a leghorn who started crowing at 2 weeks old...wasn't much of a crow, but it was a crow.

I was going to ask the same thing.

My RIR didn't crow a peep until i got rid of my packing peanut turned attack chicken. Now he only crows when i'm not out there (i take this to be submission).

A second place roo often won't crow untill alpha roo is gone. Ours looked pretty androygnious (it's 2 am i'm sure i spelled that wrong), untill alpha roo was gone, within 2 weeks our 2nd place roo was a crowing manly fool.

Someone designed a "cock box" basically a nesting box that shuts, so her roo can be in there at night, since he can't extend he doesn't crow till she lets him out later in the AM.

Well for 13 months I thought I had all hens...Then one day my Turken roo decided he would step up to the plate and he crowed for the first time. After he crowed I had 3 others decide they would take a stab at it. All my "hens" turned out to be mostly roos. So out of 15 I ended up with 3 hens and 12 roos. So I go from all hens to almost all roos in just 2 days.

All but 1 roo was rehomed to save my poor hens.

I agree. I had a cornish rock rooster and a buff orp rooster that was crowing (or at least attempting) to crow at 2 months. My 2 rhode island red roosters at 12 weeks haven't started crowing yet.

I won't know then the RIR's will. All my roosters but the cornish was sold because I can't keep roosters. DH says I can't have more then 6 chickens (I have 7 girls now). The poor cornish is now in the freezer.

Only our lil bantam rooster crows... we have 3 Buff Orpington roosters that are the same age (15 weeks old) and I havent heard them crow yet?
