sounds to me, then, that they started to develop and have died. Not necessarily duds, I reckon the guy didn´t realise that she´d been sat for a few days. Look around for some more. the guy you got them from probably has more eggs being laid. You need to get them before the goose is sitting on them.I just decided to humor myself and candle them before turning them and it's not looking promising at all now that they've been incubated for a day... I'm progressively seeing more dark spots developing and no signs of veins... and I'm pretty sure that's not positive.. so this is probably a dud batch, sadly... only one doesn't have dark spots, but I don't see any veins, not even a cluster of cells, and it's odd.. it seems the yolk is very light except for this one portion where it's darker... so, I don't know, but all the others are beginning to develop dark spots in random locations inside the egg.
If there´s a nice red vein development, then that´s good. The dead ones will be those that are decomposing inside the egg......bits of gunk floating about, etc......Ok~ Strange thing is though, only one has a blood ring. When they die, do they always develop a blood ring?
