My chickens had mite last year. while I was holding my silkie I noticed egg masses in his beard and ear and vent area. I didnt find any mites. Are the eggs mass still there from when they had them a while ago ? I checked all my birds I only found egg masses on the silkies and not the other birds( they were separated when they had mites the first time). I dusted with left over sevin 5% dust just incase. My male silkie is really skinny and bony . . .If he had mite would they do that ? They are 8 months old he doesnt mate yet, he started crowing . . .but stopped . . . is he this way if he had mites ??

yes mites will cause anemia which will kill them if not treated. I would get some ivermectin or Epernix and treat them that way your sure of killing them all.[mites that is] then you'll need to clean out your coops and treat it making sure to get into all cracks. I like to use sevin spray because it gets into all spaces. then put down a small amt. of new litter because you'll need to do this same process all over again in about 10 days.. try using baby oil or olive oil and a small toothed comb and getting the egg casings off the feather shaft.. Then start to build up their immune systems with feeding scrambled egg, yogurt, kefir, tuna, salmon etc. along with good sourse of feed.. hope this helps and they get to feeling good again..
