Do thunderstorms wake chickens up at night?

Here in NJ we've had some crazy crazy thunderstorms. Last night was exceptionally scary, with lots of lightening, and sky-tearing thunder. Not to mention torrential downpours! Do these wake up chickens? Does it scare the bejesus out of them like it does me??? I have never checked on them in the middle of the night, just do my headcount at dusk and make sure they are safe and sound.

I'm pretty sure it woke them up as well. My chickens run for the coop when we have thunder storms. Rain they don't mind so much, but they hate thunder.

Probably. They tend to wake me up!

I doubt it bothers them too much. Day time storms certainly don't seem to phase them. They just seek shelter from the rain and occasionally will stand at alert if there's a particularly loud crash of thunder. Otherwise, they go about their chicken business as if nothing's happening. I'm presuming the same occurs at night; they sit on their perch with eyes wide open wondering what all of the ruckus is about.
