I had one turkey hen in particular that would beat up any rooster that she was penned with. She was only aggressive to the roosters, she would not bother the hens. And my toms would never bother anybody!

my two midget whites grew up with chicks n once they about 6 months old they would beat up n pick the loving tar out of them the hen turkey loved my call ducks though and stood in the pool with them and coo at them the whole time..cute really had rehome them as they got worse with my chickens...I miss them but now they are at a great home away from chickens with separate housing.

Awesome pics! How weird about the roos! The lady I got my turkey eggs from said the same about her hens. She reckoned she was trying to protect the chicken hen's honour lol!

If i were a good looking turkey hen and a scrawny roo made moves on me, I would chase him off too.

I have 5 turkeys sharing space with 21 chickens and the turkeys barely notice the chickens,,,though I don't have roosters. But all is well with the flock.

I have 10 turkey poults coming the first week of june and I came on here to to find someone who will let me pick their brain on everything turkey....any takers??? I was more interested in what you feed them, and how complex is your housing/fencing system for them. I have already decided not to raise my chicks with the turkey poults. I did do research before getting my turkeys btw. I just want to know how others raise and house their turkeys, there is just so many opinions out there, especially on the protein percentage and more than anything on how much room they need, some people say 4 sq. feet and others say 10. I have lots of land and room so I can easily give them a huge area either way.

My beltsville turkeys and chickens are raised together - free range yet share a coop - I have one turkey hen who loves to beat up my leghorn rooster - leaves the others alone -
they do flog each other ...the Tommies just watch... drives the border collie crazy

no damage - just a lot of turkey "talking" actually very funny to watch - if I wasn't concerned that someone would get hurt
