This sounds exactly like my Americana! This post was really helpful because she doesn't lay eggs either. Unfortunately she gets attacked by other hens because she likes to sit on their eggs because she has none

I have 4 standard salmon Faverolles hens and a rooster. The girls are nearly 12 months old an no eggs. I just can't believe this! Is it normal? ALL 4 barren??? Raised from the egg. Awesome lovely big girls. One laid 1 egg before winter started. Then nothing! Can I hope these POL girls will start in the spring?

We have a lavender orpington who's now almost 10 mos. old and she's never laid. But ever since we got her she's been kind of snuffly, like she's got a head cold that won't go away. We've given her electrolytes and extra protein but the snuffles haven't disappeared, but other than that she seems healthy and happy.

How can you be so sure it's our Polish?? She's buff--or yellow--looks alot like Big Bird from Sesame Street(or Phyllis Diller!), and she's really skinny and tall and LOUD--no crowing, though. She is very tame and easy to pick up. Neither one does the 'squat' I've seen other laying chickens do.

My EE looks alot like the ones posted, except she's mainly grey, not brownish, small-combed. She's pretty big and fluffy, and the most shy and difficult to catch when we let them free-range. We are tying a piece of twine to her leg, like a long leash, just so she's easier to catch! Why did it have to be my EE?? I was really looking forward to blue/green eggs, too. sigh.

I will try the protein thing too...they eat a good feed, we give them grit and a handful of corn a day, and any fresh veg ends from the kitchen or garden.

I suspect that their diet may be a big part of why you have been seeing many eggs. Layer feed has just enough protein to support egg production, but only if it is the only thing the flock is fed. Corn and veggie scraps maybe lowering their overall protein intake to the point that they just can't make eggs. Remember, egg whites are almost entirely protein, and it has to come from somewhere. Switching to a higher protein feed should help.
