Do we need some sort of a perch in front of our nestboxes?

We have 2 (side by side) boxes about 2 feet off the ground. Are perches really needed for that?
Thanks

I would put some kind of perch in front of the next boxes just so when they jump up or down from the floor they don't break any eggs that may be in the nest. If you have roosts higher than the nest boxes they are more likely not to roost on the next box perches.

I have 6 nest boxes side by side across the coop about 2 feet of the ground and I put a 2x2 along the front of it a few inches away. They love to walk up and down it deciding which box they want to lay in. I would say to put a little one up in front of it.
