It sounds like she has a good chance of recovering. Wounds like this can fill in over several weeks if you can prevent infection. It is good that you trimmed feathers away from the wound. Keep it clean with saline or wound spray, and keep it from drying out with antibiotic ointment twice a day. The amoxicillin can be given 250 mg twice a day for 7-10 days, and use some probiotics afterward for a few days. Mushy wet chicken feed made fresh a couple of times daily with a bit of scrambled egg or bits of tuna or cottage cheese for protein are very good for her. Let us know how she is getting along. Flies can be dangerous because of maggots and flystrike, so keep her away from them, but leave it open to air. A loose T shirt cover might be good during visits with her buddies.

Meloxicam is something that many vets prescribe for pain and inflammation. I would not use aspirin since bleeding could be a concern. I would use some Hibiclens chlorhexidene (about $6 at Walmart in the bandaid aisle) and water or some weak Betadine (Equate First Aid Antiseptic also at Walmart) to rinse the wound for the next day or so, to help treat infection. Then you can go back to saline rinses.
Ok thank you will run to the store now. Is Meloxicam or Meloxidyl something you can secure without an rx?Meloxicam is something that many vets prescribe for pain and inflammation. No. A vet can prescribe it, but you could get it from a pharmacy with a prescription. Chewy apparently won’t fill them for chickens or egg or meat producers. Some people may have some that was given for a dog or cat. I would just try to keep her comfortable and warm in a quiet spot. Just do everything needed all at once and let her rest in between.Ok thank you will run to the store now. Is Meloxicam or Meloxidyl something you can secure without an rx?
