Do wild geese recognize people?

Theres this goose and gander pair of Canada geese I’ve known since the goose was on her nest last spring and her mate (the gander) stood guard of the nest, and I would always feed them and see them everyday until th it goslings grew up and they left to go to another lake. Now almost a year later, they’re back at their nesting spots and the gander seems like he really remembers me. He got all excited and even ate out of my hand. Do they really remember people like that? Even if it’s been awhile since they seen that person?

I believe they do. I have a relationship with a pair I call Oscar and Lady for about three yrs now. They know there names and visit me all the time. If they see my RV the come for a visit. If I call "Oscar" either in a few min. I see him coming with the whole family...lol I just love them! Oscar is showing his age though this yr. Its breaking my heart. Its going to kill me when the day comes and he's not there. I founder if Lady will still come around. Enjoy your buddies and respect there space. Youll have a great relationship to enjoy and look forward to!
