Do yo feed Your flock KITCHEn scraps...

this is probably a stupid question but...
do you all just toss the kitchen scraps in the run on the ground or do you put it in a dish of some kind?
I prefer to place anything I prepare or feed the flock on plastic containers! I know that they free range, so who knows what they are eating or pecking at; but I buy plastic container from the dollar store and feed the “human food” in it.

personally, i don’t feed them mostly intact egg shells...but only because my grandpa...who used to keep 1200 chickens...said that it might increase the risk of them eating their own eggs...so, this is anecdotal and maybe an “old farmer’s tale.”...no idea.
oyster shells are cheap...where i live...so i don’t hassle with grinding up egg shells.

I give them mainly veggie scraps and right now done cabbage family crops. I have a metal campfire hot dog stick that I’ve attached to the underside of the coop. And I spear big stuff like the the plants to it. I’ve also fed them some COOKED beef trimmings, they’ll take your fingers off if you’re not careful.

Same, but I don’t even feed them the shells. Rather not risk it.

I think the “intact” part is the key there...if they are crushed, they won’t recognize it. Whether they’d actually associate cracked egg shells with while eggs...not sure, but easy enough to avoid it.

Yesterday while grabbing something out of the chest freezer in the basement yesterday, I came across a pound of ground pork from the half pig we bought a while back that the family wasn’t excited for.

I defrosted it and fried it up this am for a warm protein boost for the flock.

I dry my shells on the counter for a few days then crush them up and put them in the same container as the oyster shell. They have no idea what they are and likely associate the shells with their oyster shell. It takes me no time at all and since it is the dead of winter where I live, they are going to good use until flower season

Why not bread? It's grains. I feed the scraps listed above....no coffee grounds they go in the composter) and our hens love grapes. Does anyone know of any issues with grapes?
I truly Hope grapes aren’t an issue. Grapes are my girls second favorite treats...blueberries being #1 on the list. They can tell the difference in foods on the “treat tray”, I swear! When I get to that gate with one of their favorites, they change from waiting patiently at the gate, to what humans say, “Running around like a chicken with its head cut off!”, jumping & catching air, chasing, pecking. They instantly turn into the ancestral Raptors!!
Favorites in Order: Blueberries, Grapes, Cottage Cheese, Sesame Chicken and Pepper Steak (and the rice that comes with the last two)
I get BEAUTIFUL, large brown eggs with incredibly big, almost orange yolks. I made cornbread the other day and adding two eggs darkened the yellow batter AT LEAST 2-3 shades.
