Do you always have water available outside coop?

I don't put water in the coop. I only have feed in the coop and only have an auto waterer in the run. I have an automatic door so they are out the door as the sun comes up and back in at dark then the door closes half hour after they are up to roost.

Water available always 1gal. inside, 1 gal. outside changed daily. They won't drink too much, only what they want...

I'm new to the chickie world, but I decided to put a smaller one inside the coop, along with a larger one outside. Just in case, for those days I might not get up so early

Also, then I don't have to move the one back & forth. My coop is really small, but I don't have to worry about spilling when moving it. They don't seem to use the inside one much, but it's there if they need it, and it's a back up if they happen to spill the outside one. Which they HAVE done!

Yes I do. The coop is a good walk from the house and the love to be up at the house. I have posted this before. My husband and I built the chicken/dog water fountain in about 30 min. They LOVE it. The water stays really cool in the summer but doesn't freeze in the winter. I let the hose run the old water out and replace it with new about 1x per week. In the second pic you can see the water needs to be washed out.

Water inside and out, and then on days they'll be free-ranging for more than a few hours in the evening (which is contingent on predator sightings), I'll add a third dish up by the barn. Having lost a chicken to the horse trough (she fell in, apparently while trying to get a drink), I want to make sure that the girls have a safe option within reach when up at the barn.

I love the chicken/dog fountain! How and of what did you make it, willkatdawson?

Thanks Theda's mom. We made the fountain from a whiskey barrel liner from Home Depot. It's made to go inside half whiskey barrels to plant flowers in. Dig a hole the size of the plastic liner and place it in the ground stack bricks inside the liner then place a pump inside, add a pretty pot and plug it in.

I keep no food or water in the bird house, especially since I got the ducks! Chickens and ducks are out from early morning until dark anyway so they don't need anything to eat.

There's a chicken waterer in the shade outside and various contatiners for the dux so we're never short of water.
